There are plenty of people out there who don't support BBRae just because 'it doesn't happen on the show'. I must correct this. It doesn't happen on the show YET. I believe that eventually they will end up together, and despite strong contradiction from many supporters of other pairings, BBRae supporters have the necessary PROOF to get their beliefs across. And here is the place to find it. Here will be bits of proof supporting the pairing, in no particular order, with some visual aids also. Enjoy!
In the episode Revolution, there is a scene where Raven is hit by one of Mad Mod's drones and falls to the ground. Beast Boy, like a gentleman, helps her up. Now, I'm not going to be so dense as to say that this is BBRae suggestive because he helped her up, I am saying it is because of the look he had on his face when he did it. It was that look that one does not get when dealing with someone they see as 'just a friend'.
The next is the infamous hug scene in Spellbound. And this is not BBRae suggestive because of the HUG, it is suggestive because of Beast boy's reaction. If it were Starfire hugging him, he would have simply hugged her back, but since it was Raven, he was shocked. Granted, he was probably shocked simply because Raven is not a very huggy person, but I find it adorable how he's lost for words after gently pushing her away. If he had no feelings for her, he probably would have said something like 'Dude, what the heck was that?' or something similar. But instead, he stands there awkwardly rubbing his head, disoriented, with his only comment an shaky 'Umm....' I find his reaction to subtly suggest something is going on.
The next bit is from Nevermore. It is the first episode that suggests anything between Beast Boy and Raven, friendship or otherwise. Toward the end, the unforgetable 'I thought you didn't like me' scene occurs. Raven: You....stayed? But I thought you didn't like me. Beast Boy: Thought you didn't like ME. And then the two share a little moment where Raven gives one of those rare smiles of hers. Truthfully, I've noticed her smiling at Beast Boy more than at anyone or anything else. See something there?
And who could forget the scene in Sisters where Beast Boy wins Raven a stuffed animal. So cute. He wouldn't have put effort into winning a prize for just ANYONE, now would he? Beast Boy: (proudly) See, I told you I'd win you something! Raven: (sarcastically) A giant chicken. I must be the luckiest girl in the world
There is a scene that no one seems to notice in Switched. Just after the Ttitans discover the package and are trying to figure out who it could be from, Beast Boy says "Probably a gift from one of my many female admirers." As he says this, he turns his eyes in Raven's direction with a look on his face that says quite plainly, 'and you're one of them, aren't you?'. I get from the scene either that or the impression that he is trying desperately to impress her, which he seems to attempt quite a lot.
During Aftershock part one, at the very beginning, the Titans are in the T-car, driving along, and Beast Boy is telling jokes. He directs most of them toward Raven, and even says 'Come on Raven, you know you think I'm hilarious.I'm not gonna stop until I make you laugh.' Now, why would he put so much effort into making her appreciate his jokes is he had no feelings for her? Yes, it could be the fact that he wants everyone around them to enjoy his humor, but it seems to go deeper than that. The others often disregard his jokes, but he doesn't keep pressing. He truly wants Raven to enjoy herself and laugh, just have a good time for once.
This is one HUGE screen shot. I shrunk it down to almost HALF its original size for this.
The next point is not a scene but a general concept. When people don't find Beast Boy funny, it irks him but he lets it go. But with Raven, when she makes sarcastic remarks in regard to his humor or ignores it, it seems to really upset him. It seems to really get him when she won't join the others in a game or activity or when she would rather stay in her room than be in his company. He becomes frustrated when she tries to stay away from him. He tries often desperately to impress her, and she shuns him continuously. It frustrates him, but he keeps coming back for her. Why? Because you don't give up on the ones you really love. He loves Raven undoubtedly as a friend, but I see the way he handles himself around her to signify something a little more.
And now we'll talk about Aftershockpart one. During a battle with Terra, Raven is hit. When Raven falls, Beast Boy comes sprinting in from way across the street, even though he could have easily left it to Starfire, and helps her up in a way that makes it seem like she has two broken legs. He has a look on his face very similar to the one during Revolution. It's a very compassionate, tender look that stays in place just as he helps her to her feet. As soon as he lets go of her, his look of anger and feirce determination of a battle to be won returns. He stays sweet and caring just long enough to let Raven know that he is concerned for her wellbeing, and then he returns to his normal battle mindset. This scene could also be seen as Beast Boy saying 'See Terra, you didn't hurt me! I can beat you! I don't need you! I've got Raven!', or perhaps even being passive agressive and trying to make Terra feel guilty and jealous. Whatever the case, it was an adorable look.
And again, we return to Spellbound. Just after Malchior breaks through Raven's ceiling in dragon form and the other four burst into the room and follow him, Beast Boy lags behind. He seems extremely concerned about Raven, and even though she replies to his questions with 'I'm fine, just get out of my room.', he still seems worried, and looks very reluctant to leave her behind when he finally does.
And back to Nevermore. At the very end of the episode, there is a dialogue about breakfast. Beast Boy: Or how about some herbal tea? Raven: Acutally, breakfast sounds....nice It's so adorable the way Beast Boy tries to please Raven so hard. Even though he would rather have breakfast and we all know it, he suggests herbal tea because he knows that it's what Raven would prefer. But when Raven declines and goes for what he wants, his eyes get large and sparkle. THAT LOOK, that look right there, was what made me start supporting the pairing. Eternal thanks to Tweed for getting me this screen shot. You rock so hard!
The next scene is one that hardly anyone looks at as BBRae suggestive. But I find it to be that way. It depends on how you interpret it. At the end of Birthmark, Raven and Robin are having a conversation. I love their friendship and its many levels. But behind this meaningful display of deep friendship, Beast Boy runs by with a ton of ice cream piled up in his hands. This is just after Raven points out 'we're going to need a ton of ice cream'. The look of joy on his face when she says it is amazing. But as he runs by with the ice cream, his eyes are in the shape of hearts. Most say, 'oh, he loves ice cream, that's all', but the truth is, Beast Boy doesn't eat animal products, therefore he cannot have diary, and so he cannot have ice cream. So he couldn't have been expressing that particular emotion toward the ice cream....it had to be toward something (or someone) else.
Next, let us journey to The Beast Within. The whole ending scene was a big tangled web of BBRae. Raven could have sat in her room and meditated or read or a million other things, but instead she chose to go and comfort Beast Boy. She offered heartfelt thoughts on his situation and consoled him better than any of the other Titans could have, because she's been there. She knows how it feels to have a 'beast' inside that could destroy everyone around her if she let it. I thought that the general feeling of the scene screamed 'romantic tension'. Raven seemed a bit more careful in choosing her words than normal, as though she was trying to be careful not to upset him. She seemed a bit more gentle in her nature than normal, and it made me feel like there was something there that she wished she could be telling him.
Back to Spellbound again before I forget. Back to 'the hug'. We must think of the intent of the creators. Would they really have added that meaningful scene for no reason? They had to be hinting at SOMETHING there, whether it was the fact that Raven and Beast Boy have a deeper friendship than we first thought, or that they are attracted to one another.
And now back to Aftershock part one again. When Raven and Terra engage in their epic battle, I've heard it said that it could be seen as Raven's ultimate revenge for what Terra did to Beast Boy, and I believe it.
Aftershock part two. When Terra has the rock held precariously over Beast Boy as the other Titans rush to the scene, Raven says harshly, 'it'll be the the last thing you ever do'. The intensity in her voice may not be hinting at feelings for Beast Boy, but it IS showing that her devotion to him as a friend is stronger than any of us thought. With stronger bonds come other, sometimes unexpected feelings.
The next screenshot is from The Prophecy. I know it hasn't aired yet, but I couldn't resist putting this here. Look, BB has his arm around Rae. Ain't it cute? It makes me wanna faint. ^_^ A thousand thanks to kmutt for emailing this and other pics to me. You are my hero, kmutt! And thanks for reviewing my fic!
The next bit of evidence is from TROQ. After the team closely escapes destruction thanks to Starfire's bravery, Beast Boy clings to Raven. You know, I found this BBRae suggestive for the soul fact that he didn't really have a reason to do it. He just randomly went to Raven and put his arms around her while he made a lighthearted comment about what had just happened. Why? He seems to do that so much. It seems like every time he is afraid or a variety of other things, he always turns to Raven. Never anyone else. She's usually the one he goes to when he is afraid, though this isn't the case in this scene. Raven is the only other Titan that Beast Boy has ever hugged on the show, even pretty much the only one who ever received any physical sign of affection from him whatsoever. I think it's sweet how neither of them seem to notice how much Beast Boy relies on Raven for silent, unwilling comfort even though she pretty much shuns him 24/7. There are TWO screenshots for this scene. This rocks! The first was given to me by CloudedElvenEyes (I'm sorry that I don't remember your ff.net pennaname. That's just what your email name was), and the second by kmutt. Thank you guys so much! It really means a lot to me that people care enough to send me screenshots. ^_^
Here is some evidence from the Teen Titans, Go! comics, in the comic entitled "lame". This scan was sent to me by The Gnostic. Thanks so much! :super hug of doom: <-- ain't it cute?
More evidence from The End Pt. I Beast Boy finds a penny in the park. A LUCKY penny, mind you. And then later, after the fate of the day is discovered, Raven is taken off to the 'safe room'. And then there's one of those nice little moments.Yep, BB gives her the penny. But this is more than just an exchange of currency. This is an exchange of something deeper. He wishes her luck, and gives her the penny, a symbol of her last threads of hope. And, notice how he grasps her hand for longer than necessary in that third shot there? DEFINATELY something.
And the next evidence is from The End. I can't give any info until I've actually seen the episode, but here are two screenshots that I think you'll all find pleasant. Thanks to the people at my favorite BBRae forum for providing the source to get these screenshots! I'll put the link to that forum up in the links section as soon as I can! ^_^
A note about The End: I see from the screenshots that there is a lot of what a lot of people would see as 'RobRae'. Never fear! Remember Stranded? Would they really waste all that RobStar bonding? And also, the creators of the show say that they love RobStar. And after all this proof of BBRae, is it really possible for three episodes to turn it around? Keep the faith! Keep the faith! FOREVER! There will be more evidence of BBRae 'shippy scenes from The End (there are quite a few of them :-D) soon when I can find where I put them on my computer. ^_^ (Note: I do in fact like RobRae, but I certainly must point out that RxS was extremely prominent in Stranded. and, yes, BBRae is my pairing of choice
From Snowblind. The picture doesn't say it, but the dialogue does Raven: Aren't you cold? Beast Boy: Not anymore Raven's part shows caring concern for her teammate, a kind of caring that she would not normally have extended had it been earlier in the show. As the show progresses, so does the relationship between the two. And the tone of Raven's voice just screamed "Would you like me to warm you up?"
One from Kole. Why does Beast Boy looked so shocked? Perhaps because he was pressed up against her body? I don't know personally, but this image just had me laughing. His body was in close proximity to hers, and it leaves him surprised. ^_^ Raven has allowed herself to become physically closer to Beast Boy more and more often in seasons Three, Four, and Five. And the relationship continues to blossom in the comics, though the show has come to an end.
Here's one from Go!. Notice how they've known each other for what...twenty mintues, and already, it's obvious by the kind of hold she has on him that Raven has a kind of protectiveness over Beast Boy.
The following two bits of evidence are from Final Exam, and they were given to me by Mari, AKA eMOTIV. Thank you so much for the help!
1. When BB has a an injured leg, and Raven helps him walk into the tower. She helps him sit down, and he starts rubbing his injury to ease the pain. She bends over, hand glowing blue, and pressed it to his leg, healing it. He grinned up at her widely and said in a slightly soft voice "Who knew we had a doctor in the house?" Raven smiles back, and you can tell she's kind of embarassed.
2. When the Titans are stranded opposite of their tower, without Robin, and Starfire is worried and Cy is angry, Beast Boy decides to try and lighten the load by cracking a joke: "Well who else never wants to go surfing again?" Raven looks at BB, and a few minutes later, Cy and Star fight or something, but when BB tries to step in to lay Cy straight, Raven puts a hand on his shoulder, looking at him calmly, but not normally. It was as if she were saying 'I understand' or 'It's okay' but in a nicer way. BB looks up at her in slight defeat, giving in.
This kind of proves that Raven understands Beast Boy's pain of having to be someone he's not; an entirely unserious joking showoff; more than any one else.
I regret to say that that is all the proof I can think of at the moment. I'll get more up as soon as I can find it. Hope you enjoyed this, and have fun around the rest of the site!
The following piece of evidence is from The Halfa Wannabe of Fanfiction.net. Thanks for the help! And also, thanks for the reviews! ^_^ In the episode Beast Within, Beast Boy had no trouble attacking his other friends viciously. As for Raven his first instinct was to protect her. This is of course when he's the beast.
During his time as a human, (or as human as you can be when you have green skin.) He acted like a jerk towards every member of the team. but his actions were a lot more vicious towards Raven, this is obviously a result of how much she has hurt him with the way she's treated him in the past.
This is the one episode that made me believe this pairing is inevitable. It is undeniable that his unconcious mind would do nothing to hurt Raven and would sacrifice him for her safety.
And some evidence from Boomkat: Raven was holding BB up while he was hypnotized. The reason I consider this proof is that, knowing Raven, why didn't she just drop him and brush herself off? Especially since he was drooling. But she just kept holding him up, although she didn't look too happy about it. Thanks! :-D Sorry it took me so long to put that up, Boomkat. I lost it in my folder.
From Switched. Other people fail to notice this, but when the Titans receive the package, Beast Boy casts Raven an undeniably flirty look as he says "Probably a gift from one of my female admirers". Implying that he KNOWS that Raven has a crush on him, but he doesn't want to say it outright. But, it seems like he's kind of gloating about it.
THE ULTIMATE PROOF IS AT HAND:
Okay, I don't think I even need to bother with talking about it, but I will: Raven kissed him, okay? What more is there for me to say. They are madly in love with each other, end of story. Or maybe not the end. But...a nice beginning.
Super big thanks to SparkyX for putting this scan on his DA
Here's some evidence sent to me by Forlong. Thanks for sending me this!
I've just seen "The End" and I'd like to point out a few BB/Rav hints you might want to put on your website. When the Titans put Raven in the "safe room", Beast Boy hands her his "luck penny". She holds on to it unti the end of part 1. After Raven becomes the portal and dies, as far as the Titans can tell, BeastBoy stops smiling (he goes almost the entire episode without smiling). He remains deturmined and serious thoughout part 2. When Raven joins the others in their breakfast celibration, she picks up a piece of Beast Boy's tofo-bacon (to eat, I suspect). Why would she do this, since she told BB that she doesn't eat "fake meat". Also, in "Homecoming: Part 2", when the Doom Patrol and the Teen Titans are fighting about what Beast Boy should do, Raven is the only one who demands that they let Beast Boy make his own desition.
At the very end of Apprentice Part 2, Slade sets that evil lair of his to self destruct or something. While the building is coming down there's a brief shot of Raven flying out while holding Beast Boy's hands, like she's carrying him out. This is odd because, well... Beast Boy can fly, so why's she carrying him? Screenshot and comment from Allison :D
Proof from Martha:
ok well im not sure wats da episode's name
but when suddenly slade came from the dead
and Robin was da only one who kould see him & hurt him,
robin was like havin a heart attack or something like that
and he was in the vents.
then raven starts meditating and BB asks her " What are u doing?"
and shes replies " Finding Robin"
then she gets into Robins mind a and then Slade punches
Raven ( well technically he punched Robin but since raven was in his mind ...)
and then when raven fell
( cuz of the punch) Beast Boy came sprinting to her
trying to help her get up, but before he could,
raven got up on her own. BB looked
totally worried about raven wehn she fell.
His expression screamed " i will die if somethin evr happens to her."
More from Martha: ok well this is it. havent u noticed that everytime that raven gets attacked, Beast Boy attacks back?
for example, in the episode " revolutionary" raven got attacked by one of the soldiers and beast boy soon
morphed into a dinosaur and attacked the same soldier that attacked Raven. he's the only one that actually
gets upset or mad when raven is hit by a villian or some kind of other thing. aha...
BBRae, Raveast, B/R, RaeBB, whatever name it goes by for us, therw will always be supporters of this pairing. Why, you might ask? Well, that is specifically why I decided to put this page explained some of the reasons why I believe wholly that this relationship has great potential.
I hear it all the time. From fanfiction reviews to forums to chat rooms to all the TT websites. The big question directed to supporters of the pairing: 'Why BBRae?'. I wish I could say "well, my friends, the answer is simple." But I can't because it isn't. There are too many reasons to put into one sentence.
The first reason I'll bring to your attention is the long known, overly used, horribly worn out fact that opposites attract. Plain and simple, they do. You see it everywhere, every day. Beast Boy is bright, happy, and energetic. He thrives in light and the laughter and company of others. Raven, on the other hand, is dark, mysterious, and quiet. She keeps to herself most of the time, usually found in the darkness of her bedroom reading or meditating. They are complete opposites. If we were all with someone exactly like us, we would get bored. The qualities that we want to change about ourselves would be what we would have to look forward to whenever we talked to the person. Eventually, we would all go insane. Life exists in light and dark, happiness and sadness, love and hate. Without one we will never truly appreciate the other. So in order for us to complete the circle, we must have both halves. To acheive balance, we must have the two extremes, and not two of the same.
Reason number two is where I must pull Terra into this whole explanation. When Terra first showed up, Beast Boy seemed immediately smitten, but it was because she thought he was funny. She connected with him. They were the same. Beast Boy thought he had found happiness with someone who was like himself. This is also the case with Raven and Malchior. When Malchior showed up, Raven believed that someone finally understood her. She believed that she could find happiness because he was so much like her. But in the end, both ended the same. They ended in pain and betrayal. Malchior was only using Raven just as Terra was using the Titans, and both Beast Boy and Raven suffered greatly from these situations. Which brings me to reason number two. Because of the betrayal they both suffered from those they believed could make them happy, they both know how it feels. This type of connection can help people find more common ground than they ever thought possible. They both have been betrayed and both need someone to mend it.
Reason number three. Hmm. Raven and Beast Boy both sacrifice who they really are for seperate reasons. Raven, of course, must sacrifice every emotion to keep those around her safe. She can never truly be who she is or her friends are at great risk. Beast Boy sacrifices who he really is for the sense of security. Beast Boy's past is one of pain and loss, and so he plays the part of 'the funny guy' in order to make others laugh. Beast Boy is not comfortable with himself. So he sacrifices who he really is so he can feel more comfortable around other people.
Number four. The final reason is a cheap reason. A very corny reason. This is the reason from which I got the name for the site. The fact is, all of the Titans are different than other people. Starfire is an alien, Robin is...well...Robin. It isn't every day you see a kid running around in a circus costume, and do I even need to go into the subject of Cyborg? But the truth is, I feel that Raven and Beast Boy are the most different of all. Raven, because of her father, Trigon, is half demon. Beast Boy, because of the tranformation resulting from an untested machine that his father used to save him from a deadly disease, is probably MORE than half animal. It is this that makes them both truly more than human, inescapably, endlessly, with no way to hide it,something else that few other people understand. Starfire, though she is from another planet, can easily pass as a normal human. Cyborg has his holographic simulation device that has the ability to make him appear human. And Robin IS human. But with Raven, she looks normal, but the thing that makes her more than human is something she cannot escape. It's something that dwells inside of her, something that has hold on basically her every action. Raven is a demon. Her father's powerful hold on her does not allow her to be just like anyone else. And with Beast Boy, he's green, he can change into animals, and no amount of makeup will ever hide the fact that he has pointed ears. He could get as much plastic surgery as he wanted, but inside, he would still be...well...an animal. Both of them are in a sense alone. No one can really relate to either of thier situations. Except perhaps each other. And that is why this site is called More Than Human.
The Terra Factor!
Well, you knew it was going to come up sooner or later, didn't you? Terra. Hmm. What can one really say about her? She's the character that almost everyone hates, the one that people get yelled at for supporting. The one who ruined everything, eh? People hate Terra because of her betrayal, because she stole BB from Raven (temporarily, my friends), and some are even stupid enough to hate her because she's blonde. If there's anything that makes me mad, it's people hating Terra because she's blonde. She can't help the fact that she's blonde, and it's no reason to hate someone.
So anyway, people hate Terra. Personally, I don't have anything against her. But if you hate her, you should at least be grateful to her a bit, because she may be the reason that the BBRae pairing starts to exist, when (not if) it does.
Terra betraying the Titans closed a lot of doors for them. Now, they need to be a lot more careful in who they let in, who they trust, who they tell things. And in BB's case, he might not be willing to trust anyone romantically after the crushing blow to his heart that Terra delivered. It would be hard for him to trust any girl...besides one that he already knows he can trust...one that he's known for long enough to know that she would never betray him. (hint hint: Raven). She instead of STEALING him from Raven, Terra might have actually done something to BETTER the chances of a relationship between them. Thanks, Terra!
Terra: or ?
As far as Terra goes, she just made a mistake. People make mistakes all the time. She CHOSE to betray the Titans, but it was a simple mistake and it's possible that she didn't really understand what she was getting herself into. Yeah, it was pretty low of her to use them and act like she was their friend while she was doing it, but teenagers do this. I'm still not saying she deserves to be forgiven, though. I guess I can't really say whether she's good or bad. I guess there's too many sides to the issue to tell.
